One of my favorite lettering artists, Erik Marinovich was recently featured on The Great Discontent. Erik is a freelancer and co-founder of Title Case along with one of my other favorite designers, Jessica Hische. He also co-founded Friends of Type, an amazing site showcasing hand lettering. Check out his interview with TGD here.
“I’ve always taken risks because I’m convinced that without them, I’ll never feel a sense of accomplishment. “
I’m finally posting a few of my favorite designs from my Skillshare class, Logo Design: Brand Your Hometown - sorry for the delay! There were so many awesome designs that made this a tough choice. Featured (in this order) are designs from Andrew Martis, Alyssa Moulton, Melinda Rowekamp and Jane Bruner. This class was an awesome learning experience - and good news! You can still sign up for it! You won’t be getting the same feedback and conversation as when the class originally posted but you will have access to all of the resources, lectures and the class syllabus. I’ll be checking in from time to time as well. Enjoy!
Have you seen the newest work from Sagmeister & Walsh? Wow. Their work never ceases to amaze me. I absolutely love handmade type (especially when tangible) and these are some incredible examples of just that. A fun, bold approach to an advertising campaign for the department store, Aizone.
Skillshare is an amazing online learning platform that gives you the opportunity to brush up on old skills, learn new ones or practice your latest hobby. With classes available to everyone, Skillshare is a great place to meet new people from all over with common interests. I’m so excited to announce that I will be teaching my very first hybrid Skillshare class - Logo Design: Brand Your Hometown. This 10 day online, collaborative class starts December 3rd and should be a ton of fun. It’s a beginner level logo design class, so everyone is welcome! Sign up now!
I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting the team at OrangeYouGlad, an awesome design studio located in Brooklyn, NY. This studio is made up of 5 incredibly talented individuals who really do it all - web, print, branding, illustration - whatever your needs may be! I’m in love with their playful, whimsical style and their addition of hand done elements really add a personal touch. Check out their latest Halloween Promo ‘12 here.
